This is the 24th most popular campaign
Many young people suffer from eating disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge Eating. Both Men and Women can suffer from eating disorders. One time it was mainly 16 year old teenage girls, but the age is getting younger and also more males are suffering from an eating disorder. I want to educate people into the signs of realising you or a friend may have an eating disorder and to try and get people to accept that your body looks more beautiful at a natural weight, than when it is being starved. Young people need to understand the differences between being fit and healthy than pushing their bodies to the extreme.
Hi Amanda, Just wanted to let you know that we're looking for people for Battlefront 2. If you are still running your campaigns and are interested, please get in touch. You can contact us via the website (you can click through from the front page) or e-mail me direct. I hope to hear from you. Cheers, Angie

Hi, I'm really skinny and people used to call me anorexic and stuff and at school they reffered me to go to the maudsley some weird place, to see if i had an eating disorder because i was loosing weight and they diagnosed me with borderline anorexia what the hell do they mean borderline lol. Anyways i can't put on weight unless i eat tons of junky fat foods. It's really bad because i used to be really good at running and sporty things and now i can't run without getting pains in my chest because i'm so unhealthy due to all the junk i'm eating to get fatter. And like loads of my mates atm are trying to starve themselves to get down to my weight and some of them are only size 8's and 10's. I want them to realize that i'd rather be like them and they don't need to starve themselves to be thinner. Anyways thats my little ramble. I think it don't have much to do with your views, but anyways there it is haha bibi xxxxx

Hi Amanda, I'm so glad somebody is finally trying to do something about the rapid rise in teenagers plumiting body weights. I know quite a few people with eating disorders and know how quickly their situation deteriates. Not enough is being done in the country to help out with those who suffer & a couple of months ago, somebody started a petition to Gordon Brown to get more funding for new eating disorder clinics to help teenagers get the quick & healthy recovery they need urgently - I hope by your campaign the priminister will actually take some of the things said into consideration. These days there are more and more different eating disorders aswell as the three mentioned above. There is wannarexia (a type of diet using annorexic methods) and many many more!

I myself suffer with an eating disorder however it isnt mentioned here, it's called diabulimia which effects people with type 1 diabetes. i certainly believe there is not enough help out there, especially with this eating disorder in particular. I hope if your campaign gets picked, diabulimia can be addressed also x

I like this idea -- and I'm eager to learn more about how you will approach the issue (like in something like a "support group" fashion?)... You can reach me at nmw.info :) nmw

Hi Amanda, Greetings from Singapore. 2 years ago, a few of us here started a campaign "Food Is Not The Enemy", headed by Project WiTHIN. Our team consists of psychiatrists, counsellors, students, teachers and survivors of eating disorders. For more information about the campaign, do check http://www.projectthin.com/ out. Currently, we are exploring the possibility of having global partners and affiliates to begin a worldwide campaign. We have 2 members in Australia right now trying to start a parallel campaign them. We are very interested in working with you in every way possible. Do email us at run.on.beauty@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do. Looking forward to a wonderful collaboration! Best regards, Kwan Jin Yao Public Relations Manager

I think this is a topic which needs to be understood as a very common issue. Too many people think that anorexia etc are a lifestyle choice. The facts is that they are serious mental illnesses which trap the sufferer into this way. Many sufferers don't want to be this way but the idea of recovering is terrifying especially when they still view themselves as fat. I think parents needs to be educated how to deal with kids who have eating disorders. To understand that its not soething that you can snap them out of and that its not their fault. They shouldn't be punished for having a disorder and force feedig or argueing over meals just makes them worse. They should try to learn what it is that's actually bothering ther child instead of making them feel even more useless about theselves.
