Siobhan and Becky

Giving just 15p a day could change someone's life forever.

Our campaign

Giving just 15p a day could change someone's life forever. We've spent time in Nairobi, Kenya, and seen children who are desperate for a chance in life, an education, but cannot afford it.  By giving our spare change we've been able help send 2 of these children to school. We now want YOU to try to make a BIG change with your small change – for causes both home and abroad. Start saving pennies now, and this could amount to a big difference in someone's life.

Our Campaign highlights

- Speaking at a Channel 4 Battlefront event about the campaign

- Meeting Save the Children

- Making a film about the campaign with the Battlefront film-maker

- Putting on our busking tour of Britian – supported by Danny from Supergrass and Strictly Ballroom dancers, Vincent and Flavia

- Interviewed by Alex Zane on XFM

- Getting over 1000 people pledging to make a big change with their small change

How can you help?

- Start saving your pennies for a good cause

- Support our campaign by leaving a comment here or on our Bebo page

- Send in your ideas about good charities that could benefit from your small change

- Pledge to make a big change with your small change HERE NOW!

Just idea for a charity..we had this woman come to our school the other day and she talked about the charity that she works for, it's called Educaid and works in Sierra Leone trying to give children an education. It's a small charity started by her brother in law I think and they run 3 schools across Sierra Leone. The children there are still trying to overcome what the went through during the civil war in which there were thousands of child soldiers who were forced to kill their own families by burning them alive. The stories were horrific and as it is a small charity it's guaranteed that all the money is going straight to where it's needed! And well done, what you're doing is amazing!

On the contrary Demon, it is you who is somewhat deluded and seem to have missed the point completely. As I understand it, this appeal is about directing small change towards ‘your chosen cause’ wherever and whatever that may be. Seems to me the thinking behind it stands up very well, especially when you consider that our small change could become BIG CHANGE if you choose to direct it towards less affluent parts of the world, helping to provide positive change in the form of education to try and break the cycle of poverty. Count me in Siobhan and Becky ! …you are both stars.

Sorry Siobhan and Becky but I am sick to death of people raising money for Africa - Africa is one the the WEALTHIEST countries on the planet with Gold, Diamonds, Oil etc and since I was your age BILLIONS has gone to Africa in Government Aid from countries around the world and campaigns such as this and guess what, nothing has improved... why? It is so detached from reality, African Governments that are RICH give nothing to their people, they are in the main corrupt and the money sent over never gets to the people and in another 50 years, despite the BILLIONS that will be pumped in, it will not be any different.. Charity begins at home.. when we have housed every homesless person, removed every person from a Hospital Waiting List, can Educate and Protect every child in our own country, then we can consider helping those overseas!

Hey guys, thank you all so much for your comments, I am really glad you enjoyed the show! At the moment there is nowhere you can directly send your pennies to, but if you want any help with specific charities that do work similar to ours then just ask and you can get your pennies changed into cash at any bank and send it directly to them! We are working on getting something set up for ourselves very soon! If you are interested specifically in commiting to sponsoring a child please drop us an e-mail @ [email protected]! Thank you so much for your support!! Siobhan

kelly, 20 October 2009 11:05

Hey! I just finished watching the channel 4 show, and I was so impressed by you guys. I recently came back from Uganda this summer, and I've been wanting to set up a campaign like yours, and just don't know how. I'm so inspired by both of you, and just wanted to let you know that what you're doing is really amazing.

Philippa, 20 October 2009 10:20

My 6year old son has watched you on Battlefront today...it's made him think! and is raiding his piggybank and searching the house for pennies at the mo! We'd like to know where we can send the pennies collected (he'd like to get his school involved too).

I love the idea, and completely agree that it's not difficult to make a difference. I spent my summer in India last year and saw the poverty that alot of people are living in, I am now planning a trip to Africa for next summer and aim to do some fundraising. Good luck with the campaign.
